Looking back right to the beginning, there has been a lot of preparation thrown into this $1,000,000 prize pool, eight day event set at the Fox Theater, Atlanta. Starting off with 16 teams to compete in a maximum of five best-of-one matches. The prize pool was split, and the trophy followed the winning team home. This was the tenth Major in line, but the first one to utilize the competitive Swiss format where three wins push a team up to the playoffs, and three defeats end with a withdrawal. All this, happened only during the first day of the event. In total, eight teams were able to qualify for the playoffs stage.

As for who won the Major? Well, it all came down to Astralis and Virtus.pro in a standard best-of-three. They had some sharp and fearsome opponents to get through to the final. None of them was going to lose their strength at the last second. Not even slightly. The match was an intense one. They made use of all their chosen maps; Nuke 12:16, Overpass 16:14 and Train 16:14, pushing the score to 2:1. Astralis, winning the major and gathering their shiny loot and taking it home. These three maps provided Astralis and VP with enough coverage to give us, the audience, a great spectacle. Both teams played on a similar level, almost like they were bouncing a ping pong ball back and forth the whole time. They also proved this by setting the same half-time score on each map, 9:6.

As said in the beginning of this article - some of you might be happy and some of you might be sad about the results. They are what they are, and there is no changing it. Don not worry though! There is a plethora of other tournaments on the way. So be prepared, wait patiently, and stay on the lookout… because 5Aces eSport will be there to tune you in as soon as possible!
